Shenho Hshieh, born in 1989, is an American fine art painter and illustrator who creates works of art in both digital and wet media, such as ink and watercolor. After receiving a BFA in 2015 from the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California, he’s been working as a Los Angeles-based freelancer. Shenho’s art has been used in publications such as the Los Angeles Times and the Dallas Observer, as well as exhibited at the LCAD Gallery and the Leiminspace, in downtown Los Angeles. He has received recognition from American Illustration Association and the California News Publishers Association. Currently, Shenho teaches as an art instructor and is pursuing a painting MFA at the Laguna College of Art and Design.

Primarily a representational, figurative painter, Shenho Hshieh makes story-driven images of people in their private and vulnerable moments. These individuals, known well to the artist, are often portrayed with subtle expressions, occupying a closed-off, interior environment. Shenho incorporates symbols and exaggerates geometric shapes to emphasize isolation and intimacy. Inspired by genre paintings by artists such as Johannes Vermeer and Edward Hopper, the artist desires to give voice to ordinary people by portraying experiences in their daily lives.
